Everything open at MIA right now

From each place's published hours, in MIA local time. Hours change on holidays and at short notice; 220 of 225 listed places publish hours we can read exactly.

At 5 a.m., MIA has coffee before security, an open checkpoint for every concourse, and a free MIA Mover to the rental car and transit center. The 24-hour Dunkin’ in Central Terminal F is the simplest coffee stop if you haven’t cleared security. If you’re heading straight to your gate, find your concourse in the tables below.

Check your flight and gate in your airline’s app before you set off, and see which concourse your airline uses. If you have a checked bag, ask your airline when its counter and bag drop open. MIA’s published checkpoint hours don’t answer that question.

Coffee before you join the security line

For a cafecito before sunrise, you don’t have to gamble on finding an open counter past TSA. MIA’s dining listings place these options before security:

Where you are Open at 5 a.m. Where to find it
North Terminal D Starbucks by D32 is listed daily from 4 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Au Bon Pain opens at 5 a.m. Another Starbucks opens at 4:30 a.m. The D32 Starbucks and Au Bon Pain are on Level 2 departures, before security. The other Starbucks is on Level 1 arrivals, before security.
Central Terminal E Café Versailles opens at 4 a.m. Café La Carreta opens at 5 a.m. Café Versailles is on Level 2 departures. Café La Carreta is on Level 1 arrivals. Both are before security.
Central Terminal F Dunkin’ is listed as open 24 hours. A second Café Versailles opens at 5 a.m. Both are on Level 2 departures, before security.
Central Terminal G Au Bon Pain opens at 5 a.m. Level 2 departures, before security.
South Terminal Gilbert’s Food Bar opens at 4:30 a.m. Before security. Its listing doesn’t specify a concourse.

For food rather than coffee, Subway in Central Terminal E is also listed as open 24 hours before security. Check our food directory if you need another concourse or a different meal.

Already through security? These are listed after security:

Concourse Open by 5 a.m.
D Dunkin’ by D41 from 4 a.m. Café Versailles by D5 and by D44 from 4:30 a.m. Carlo’s Bake Shop Express vending machine by D34, 24 hours.
E Chick-Fil-A across from E2 and Jackson Soul Food by E2, daily 5 a.m. to 11 p.m.
F and G Guava & Java by F14 and by G9 from 5 a.m.
H Starbucks by H5 and Gilbert’s Food Bar from 4:30 a.m. Carlo’s Bake Shop Express at H11, 24 hours.
J Starbucks by J7 from 4:30 a.m. Earl of Sandwich by J8 from 5 a.m. Carlo’s Bake Shop Express at J11, 24 hours.

Need to store a bag? Communitel runs two checkrooms before security on Level 2: one in Central Terminal E and one in South Terminal H, by Door 20. Both list 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, but MIA’s things-to-do page gives the E checkroom 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., so a 5 a.m. drop is worth a call to 305-869-1163 first. Communitel charges $12 to $24 per bag per day, depending on size.

Which checkpoint opens first?

MIA publishes checkpoint hours by the gates each one serves. At 5 a.m., these are already within their listed hours. Our security page has the full list if your gate or entrance changes.

Your gates Checkpoint to look for Published opening
D1–D60 Checkpoint 2 3:30 a.m.
E1–E33 Checkpoint 5 4 a.m.
F1–F23 Checkpoint 6 3:30 a.m.
G1–G19 Checkpoint 7 4 a.m.
H3–H17 or J2–J18 Checkpoint 9 Open 24 hours

Checkpoint 4 also serves D and E from 4 a.m. Checkpoint 8 serves H and J from 4 a.m. Follow the airport’s signs and staff instructions once you arrive. An opening time tells you when a checkpoint operates, not how long its line will take. If your airline sends you to a different concourse, use the checkpoint for that gate area.

The first shuttle depends on which one you mean

The MIA Mover’s station is on Level 3, between the Dolphin and Flamingo garages, and its trains link the terminal with the Rental Car Center and the Miami Intermodal Center. From there, these are the first rides of the morning:

If you’re returning a rental car before your flight, confirm your company’s return arrangements, because the Rental Car Center’s 24-hour opening doesn’t mean every rental counter stays open.

The D Skytrain is a different train. It runs above Concourse D, within the gate area, and won’t take you to rental cars or transit.
