Dolphin Expressway near MIA

[Every way into town, compared](https://miaairportguide.com/to/): Pick where you are going: time, cost, and the first and last departure for each way.

Take the free MIA Mover from Level 3 to the Rental Car Center. Its station sits between the Dolphin and Flamingo garages. Trains run about every three minutes, from 5:00 a.m. until about 4:41 a.m. the next morning. The center is open 24 hours, but some rental companies close between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. Confirm your company’s pickup hours before you count on a late arrival.

You can reach the center without hunting for a curbside rental shuttle. Settle your rental company’s toll terms before you drive out.

## From baggage claim to the counter

From baggage claim on Level 1, make your way to Level 3. International arrivals through J exit on that level already. Follow the Skyride moving walks and the MIA Mover signs to the station between the garages. Board the [MIA Mover](https://miaairportguide.com/transport/mia-mover/) for the Rental Car Center at 3900 NW 25th Street, Miami, FL 33142.

Don’t follow signs for the D Skytrain. That train travels along Concourse D, not to the Rental Car Center. If you’re unsure which terminal you’re in, use [our terminal guide](https://miaairportguide.com/terminals/) to get your bearings before heading to Level 3.

Once at the [Rental Car Center](https://miaairportguide.com/transport/rental-car-center/), use your reservation to find your company. MIA lists these operators **inside the Rental Car Center**: ACE, Alamo, Avis, Budget, Carnival Rent A Car, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National, Payless, Royal, Sixt and Thrifty.

An airport pickup in a search result does not always mean a desk inside the center. If your company isn’t on the list above, look for it among the operators MIA lists **outside** the center, such as Fox Rent A Car, Easirent.com or U-Save. The airport says these companies pick up passengers outside the center’s lobby on request. Our [Rental Car Center page](https://miaairportguide.com/transport/rental-car-center/) lists them all. Call your company from the lobby to ask for the pickup. Don’t wait at the terminal curb for a shuttle unless it tells you to.

## Settle the toll question before taking the keys

Florida’s Turnpike in Miami-Dade, from Exit 1 to Exit 47, takes tolls only electronically, by SunPass or TOLL-BY-PLATE, and you don’t stop to pay. Florida’s Turnpike says TOLL-BY-PLATE isn’t available to customers in rental cars, and that each rental company has its own toll arrangement, so check its fees. MIA suggests asking about charging tolls to the credit card you rented with.

At the counter, ask how your company bills a toll, what fee it adds on top, and whether it charges on days you don’t use a toll road. Check whether you can decline its toll program. MIA’s rental page lists no operator’s toll fees, so the answer has to come from **your reservation**. Our guide to [tolls and SunPass in a rental car](https://miaairportguide.com/guides/miami-airport-tolls-sunpass-rental-car/) covers bringing your own SunPass and what to ask.

## If the car or counter isn’t what you expected

If your booking names an offsite operator, call it from the center for the requested pickup.

If you’re going only to central Miami, compare the car’s full cost with [Metrorail’s Orange Line](https://miaairportguide.com/transport/metrorail-orange/). The MIA Mover connects you to the rail station, and the fare is $2.25 each way. For a direct ride without a rental, [taxis](https://miaairportguide.com/transport/taxi/) run on the meter, with a $15 minimum for trips starting at MIA.

Before your return day, save the Rental Car Center address and ask your company for its return and after-hours instructions. MIA’s rental page does not give a universal return procedure for every operator.
