A table in the food court, MIA

[What's open at MIA right now](https://miaairportguide.com/dining/#open-now): Every place to eat and shop open at this hour, in airport time, with when it closes.

Concourse D has MIA’s widest spread of restaurants tagged **Vegetarian / Vegan**. H and J each have tagged counters too, and before security a Subway near Concourse E is listed as open 24 hours. [Our food directory](https://miaairportguide.com/dining/) gives you places to start, but its tag doesn’t identify a vegan dish.

Pick from your own side of security. Reaching a counter across a checkpoint means clearing security again before you board.

## Already through security? Start with your concourse

The table shows where MIA puts its Vegetarian / Vegan tag. Hours are the airport’s daily listed hours, not a promise that every item will be available. Gate numbers identify the counter’s area, not your boarding gate.

| Your concourse | MIA-tagged places after security | Where to look | Listed hours |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| D, North Terminal | Ice Box Café | By D8 | 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. |
| D | Subway | By D10 | 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. |
| D | Shula’s Bar & Grill | By D17 | 6 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. |
| D | Corona Beach House | By D23 | 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. |
| D | Estefan Kitchen Express | Marketplace, by D27 | 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. |
| D | TGI Friday’s | By D36 | 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. |
| H, South Terminal | Gilbert’s Food Bar (Post-Security) | Departures level, no gate listed | 4:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. |
| H | Subway | By H7 | 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. |
| J, South Terminal | Earl of Sandwich | By J8 | 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. |

MIA’s categories hint at what each D counter serves. It files [Estefan Kitchen Express](https://miaairportguide.com/venues/estefan-kitchen-express/) under local flavors and sandwiches. [Ice Box Café](https://miaairportguide.com/venues/ice-box-cafe/) and [Subway](https://miaairportguide.com/venues/subway-north-terminal/) are also listed for sandwiches, while [Shula’s](https://miaairportguide.com/venues/shulas-bar-grill/) and [Corona Beach House](https://miaairportguide.com/venues/corona-beach-house-d23/) have broader restaurant categories.

Two North Terminal listings need a closer look. MIA tags **[Fig & Fennel](https://miaairportguide.com/venues/fig-fennel-north-terminal-after-security/)** Vegetarian / Vegan and lists it after security from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., but that tagged entry doesn’t give a gate. A separate [Fig & Fennel](https://miaairportguide.com/venues/fig-fennel-north-terminal-gate-d-28/) entry says D28 without the diet tag. Don’t assume the two entries describe the same menu. The [North Terminal page](https://miaairportguide.com/terminals/north/) helps you place it before you walk.

In H, [Gilbert’s](https://miaairportguide.com/venues/gilberts-food-bar-post-security/) opens earliest among the tagged places beyond security. Its entry lists snacks, sandwiches and local flavors, but no gate. In J, MIA lists sandwiches and soups at [Earl of Sandwich](https://miaairportguide.com/venues/earl-of-sandwich/).

## Before security, including a late arrival

You have three tagged choices before a checkpoint:

| Terminal | Place | Listed hours |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Central, departures level of E | Subway (Open 24 Hours) | 24 hours |
| North | Half Moon Empanadas | 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. |
| South | Gilbert’s Food Bar (Pre-Security) | 4:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. |

Neither the Half Moon nor the Gilbert’s entry gives a gate or door, so use the [terminal guide](https://miaairportguide.com/terminals/) as you approach.

The [E Subway](https://miaairportguide.com/venues/subway-open-24-hours/) is the only tagged place listed overnight, and its counter is **before security**. If you’re already airside in E, reaching it means leaving security, and our [checkpoint information](https://miaairportguide.com/security/) shows which checkpoints are still open to get you back in.

MIA’s directory doesn’t show a Vegetarian / Vegan tagged place after security in E, F or G in these listings. That isn’t proof that every menu there lacks a suitable dish. Search the [live food directory](https://miaairportguide.com/dining/) for your area and ask a nearby counter.

## Vegan is a question for the counter

MIA applies one **Vegetarian / Vegan** category to each place above. It doesn’t say which dishes are vegetarian, which are vegan, or how staff prepare them.

Tell the staff what you avoid, then ask about the whole order. For a vegan meal, check dairy and egg in bread, pastry and sauces, and ask about broth or toppings. If shared preparation matters to you, ask that too.

If you’re connecting from D to E, Khiz & Eesa filmed that walk from D48 and found the D–E connector after gate D31, which kept them past security. That lets you eat in D before you cross, and the [connections guide](https://miaairportguide.com/connections/) explains the connector. A delayed passenger reported walking through D with a meal voucher and struggling to cover both food and a drink. If you’re using a voucher, ask whether the counter accepts it and check the total before ordering.
