MIA has baggage wrapping stations on the 2nd level, before security. Why the on-site wrap matters if TSA opens your bag, and other ways to protect a checked case.

Bag wrapping

MIA has **baggage wrapping stations throughout the 2nd level (departures), before security**, so you can wrap a checked bag right before you go to your airline’s counter. Wrap it here rather than at home: MIA says only bags wrapped by the on-site vendor are **rewrapped free** if the wrap has to come off, and the vendor won’t rewrap a bag wrapped at home.

## Wrapping a bag at MIA

Wrapping comes out of your check-in time, so add it to the timings in our guide to [how early to arrive at Miami International](https://miaairportguide.com/guides/how-early-should-you-arrive-at-miami-international/). Our [airline directory](https://miaairportguide.com/airlines/) shows which concourse and check-in counters your airline uses, and our [terminal guide](https://miaairportguide.com/terminals/) shows the layout.

The film is tamper-evident, and MIA calls it nontoxic and recyclable. The airport doesn’t name the wrapping company on its services page or publish a price, so ask at the station before they start. If you arrive with a bag already wrapped at home, ask your airline at check-in whether it’ll take it.

## Other ways to protect a checked bag

Communitel Baggage Storage, which runs MIA’s baggage room, sells luggage straps, locks and tape at its counters before security in [Concourse E](https://miaairportguide.com/venues/communitel-baggage-storage-central-terminal/) and [Concourse H](https://miaairportguide.com/venues/communitel-baggage-storage-south-terminal/).

If the bag arrives damaged anyway, report it at your airline’s [baggage office on Level 1](https://miaairportguide.com/amenities/baggage-claim/) before you leave. Our guide to [delayed or lost baggage at MIA](https://miaairportguide.com/guides/delayed-or-lost-baggage-at-miami-international/) lists each office’s door and the reporting deadlines, and MIA’s [lost and found](https://miaairportguide.com/amenities/lost-and-found/) is in North Terminal D, Level 4.

If you need to leave a bag at the airport rather than send it on a flight, our [luggage storage page](https://miaairportguide.com/amenities/luggage-storage/) covers the daily rates and hours at both counters.
