A street of murals

**Wynwood is a short ride from MIA. The Moxy Miami Wynwood hotel, at 255 NW 25th Street, is 6.7 miles by road from Concourse J, about 13 minutes.** Go to **Wynwood** for murals, galleries and bars, and to the **Design District** for luxury shopping and public art.

## Wynwood is for art and nights out, the Design District for shopping

| | Wynwood | Miami Design District |
| --- | --- | --- |
| What it is | Miami’s arts district, known for street art, galleries and nightlife | Designer boutiques, galleries, public art and restaurants |
| Don’t miss | The Wynwood Walls murals | Buckminster Fuller’s Fly’s Eye geodesic dome |
| Also | Fine art galleries and the Museum of Graffiti | The Haitian Heritage Museum |
| When to go | Daytime for the murals and galleries, evening for the bars | Shops open Monday to Saturday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday noon to 6 p.m. Restaurant hours vary. |

## Taxi, ride app or car

- **Taxi.** Taxis wait outside baggage claim on the arrivals level and run on the meter. At MIA’s rates, that 6.7-mile trip comes to about $28 including the $2 airport fee, plus $0.40 a minute in slow traffic and any tolls. Our [taxi page](https://miaairportguide.com/transport/taxi/) has the full rates.
- **Ride app.** Pickup is on Level 1 or Level 2, at the door your app shows. Our [ride app page](https://miaairportguide.com/transport/ride-app/) explains both.
- **Driving.** The Design District’s visitor page puts the drive from MIA at about 10 minutes, and the district has four parking garages and valet at 10 drop-off stations.

## Getting between the two

**Freebee**, a free ride service, covers Wynwood. Hail one or request it in the Freebee app. It runs between galleries, restaurants and events, and also picks up from Midtown, Edgewater and the 15th Street Metromover station.

## On a layover

Count the round trip, your time there and a second pass through security before you leave the airport. Our guide to [leaving MIA on a layover](https://miaairportguide.com/guides/can-you-leave-miami-airport-layover/) sets out how much time MIA says you need, and a [hotel near the airport](https://miaairportguide.com/hotels/) helps on an overnight one.
