# Getting from MIA to where you are going

How to get from Miami International Airport to PortMiami, Fort Lauderdale and FLL, Key West, Key Largo, Islamorada and Marathon and more, every way compared.

Updated October 21, 2026

Each page compares the ways to reach one place from Miami International Airport: the time, the cost, and the first and last departure from the airport, from published timetables, fares and the airport's own transport records. Where a source did not publish a number, the page says so instead of guessing.

## Places compared from MIA

### [Miami Airport to PortMiami](https://miaairportguide.com/to/port-of-miami/)

Downtown Miami, on Dodge Island

PortMiami is the cruise port, and it is the one trip here where the cruise line often decides how you go. The airport lists four ways to make the trip, from a pre-booked cruise transfer to a taxi meter.

Compared: Cruise line transfer, Taxi, Ride app, Metrorail and City of Miami trolley

### [Miami Airport to Fort Lauderdale and FLL](https://miaairportguide.com/to/fort-lauderdale/)

Broward County, about 28 road miles north

Fort Lauderdale is a different county and a different airport. The trip is a train question for most people: two rail services leave from Miami, and a taxi across the county line costs about $100 on the meter.

Compared: Tri-Rail, Brightline, Taxi, Ride app

### [Miami Airport to Key West](https://miaairportguide.com/to/key-west/)

The end of the Florida Keys, about 159 road miles south

Key West is a four-hour trip from MIA by road, and the shuttle from the airport is built around three fixed departures. The other real choices are to fly the last leg or to rent a car.

Compared: Keys Shuttle, Fly to Key West (EYW), FlixBus, Rental car

### [Miami Airport to Key Largo, Islamorada and Marathon](https://miaairportguide.com/to/florida-keys/)

The upper and middle Florida Keys, 60 to 110 road miles south

The Keys before Key West are reached the same way as Key West, but you get off earlier. The shuttle's timetable gives a clock time for each stop, which is what most of these travelers need.

Compared: Keys Shuttle, Rental car, Taxi

### [Miami Airport to South Beach and Miami Beach](https://miaairportguide.com/to/south-beach/)

Miami Beach, across Biscayne Bay, about 14 road miles east

Two buses run from the MIA Metrorail station to Miami Beach, and the fast one is not the one with the lowest number. The 150 is an airport express. The 36 is a local that runs longer hours.

Compared: Metrobus 150 Miami Beach Airport Express, Metrobus 36, Taxi, Ride app

### [Miami Airport to Downtown Miami and Brickell](https://miaairportguide.com/to/downtown-miami/)

Downtown and Brickell, about 12 road miles east

Downtown is where rail beats the road. Metrorail's Orange Line reaches Government Center in 15 minutes and Brickell in 17, for $2.25, but only until the early evening on through trains.

Compared: Metrorail Orange Line, Brightline shuttle to MiamiCentral, Tri-Rail, Taxi, Ride app

### [Miami Airport to West Palm Beach and Boca Raton](https://miaairportguide.com/to/west-palm-beach/)

Palm Beach County, 50 to 75 road miles north

Palm Beach County is a rail trip from Miami. Both services that go there start away from the terminal, so the first decision is which station you can reach.

Compared: Brightline, Tri-Rail, FlixBus, Taxi

### [Miami Airport to Orlando](https://miaairportguide.com/to/orlando/)

Central Florida, about 241 road miles north

Orlando is the longest trip here that people still make without flying. The train, a nonstop flight and a bus each take a different kind of traveler, and driving is the slowest of them.

Compared: Brightline, Fly to Orlando (MCO), FlixBus, Rental car
