Charging your phone at MIA

MIA doesn't publish where its seat outlets are. Where to buy a charger or power bank by concourse, how late each shop opens, and how to arrive with a charged phone.

Charging at the gate

Don’t count on finding a free outlet. MIA doesn’t publish where passengers can plug in a phone, and its own green-travel tips ask passengers to charge devices before arriving. If you do find a working outlet at your gate, stay within reach of it. If your phone is low, the reliable fix is a charging cable or power bank from one of the shops MIA’s directory lists under tech.

Miami-Dade County’s travel advice is to pack a phone charger in your carry-on, alongside medication, documents and a change of clothes, in case your flight is delayed. The charging stations MIA does list, in Concourses D, E, F, G, H and J, are for electric wheelchairs and mobility devices, not phones.

MIA does list a paid option. Each Wait n’ Rest private room has a charging station, after security in Concourse D near Gate D15. The rooms are open 24 hours and booked by the hour, and you need a same-day flight with access to Concourse D.

Early morning, late at night, and Concourse J

MIA’s directory also files its newsstands under tech, and many open earlier and close later than the electronics shops. These are the long-hours ones by concourse:

Newsstand Concourse Listed hours
Hudson News F 4 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
Hudson News G 4 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
Miami News Now D 4 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Coconut Grove News H 4:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
Miami News Connection J 4:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Hudson News D and E 5 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Concourse J has no electronics shop in the directory, so Miami News Connection is where to look for a cable there.
