The MIA Mover and the Rental Car Center

Find the MIA Mover, reach the Rental Car Center, and plan for the walk, overnight service and your rental desk's hours.

The MIA Mover station entrance inside the airport
MIA Mover station

The MIA Mover is the free elevated train to MIA’s Rental Car Center. Board on Level 3, between the Dolphin and Flamingo garages. The train runs through the night, though its listed schedule leaves a short gap before 5 a.m. If you’re collecting a car, the other clock matters too: the center stays open 24 hours, but some rental operators close overnight.

From baggage claim to the Mover

From baggage claim on Level 1, go up to Level 3 and follow signs for the MIA Mover. International arrivals through Concourse J exit on Level 3. The Skyride moving walkways on that level connect the terminal areas with the station between the garages, and our terminal guide shows where each concourse sits on that walk.

Follow the station name on the signs. The Mover has one airport station for the terminal complex. It doesn’t stop at each concourse.

Two other trains at MIA won’t get you there: the Skytrain above Concourse D and the E Train to the E satellite gates. Both stay inside their concourses.

The ride and the time you need

The MIA Mover listing says trains run about every three minutes. MIA’s car rental and getting-around pages do not publish a ride duration or a time from baggage claim to a rental counter.

The train also connects to the Miami Intermodal Center for Metrorail, Tri-Rail and buses. If you’re going into the city rather than collecting a car, check the Metrorail Orange Line or Tri-Rail pages for the next leg. Metrorail lists $2.25 each way. Tri-Rail lists round-trip fares from $3.50 to $9.25 by zone.

At the Rental Car Center

MIA puts the Rental Car Center at 3900 NW 25th Street. Before you join a line, check the company name on your reservation. Inside the center, MIA lists ACE, Alamo, Avis, Budget, Carnival Rent A Car, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National, Payless, Royal, Sixt and Thrifty.

Booked with a company not on that list? MIA has off-airport firms such as Fox Rent A Car, Green Motion and U-Save pick up outside the Rental Car Center lobby on request, so call yours to arrange it.

Late arrival or a stopped train

The gap in the opening runs from about 4:41 a.m., when the listed service ends, to 5 a.m., when it starts again. Landing in that window means calling your rental company before you ride over. MIA’s car rental page publishes no other way to the center if the train stops, so tell your rental company if you’re held up.

Returning a rental car

Use 3900 NW 25th Street for the Rental Car Center, then follow your company’s return instructions. Take the MIA Mover back to the airport station between the garages. From there, the Level 3 walkways lead toward the terminals, while check-in and ticketing are on Level 2. Leave time for the walk as well as your car return and airport formalities.
