MIA has four indoor relief rooms after security and three outdoor areas before it. The rooms are in D, F, G and the H–J connector. The outdoor areas are on Level 1 across from Doors 5 and 15, and the one across from Door 28 is temporarily closed for construction. MIA publishes no hours for any of them.

After security, use one of four indoor rooms

Concourse Where
D Near gate D34
F Near gate F7
G Near gate G11
H and J The H–J connector, across from the InMotion store

MIA describes them as enclosed rooms with synthetic grass, a fire hydrant, disposable bags and sinks. Every relief area at MIA, indoor and outdoor, has dual surfaces and a waste disposal station.

Concourse E has no indoor relief room on MIA’s list. Ask airport staff which of the rooms in D or F you can reach without clearing security again, or use an outdoor area before you go through. TSA says that if you leave the checkpoint for a relief stop, you and the animal go through screening again. Our connections page explains the D–E connector.

Before security, the relief areas are outdoors

Near Where
North Terminal (D) West of the Dolphin garage, across from Door 5, Level 1
Central Terminal (F) A fenced area west of the South Short Term Parking lot, across from Door 15, Level 1
South Terminal (J) A fenced area south of the Flamingo garage, across from Door 28, Level 1. Closed for now.

These are the places to go on arrival, after you’ve collected your animal and your bags, or before you check in. From the South Terminal, the nearest working choices are the Door 15 area or, once past security, the indoor room at the H–J connector.

Plan the stop around your gate

  • Build the stop into your arrival time. Our guide to how early to arrive at MIA works that time out from your airline’s check-in area, concourse and checkpoint hours.
  • Use the outdoor area first if your animal has a long flight ahead. It’s before security, so it doesn’t depend on which concourse you fly from.
  • Service animals use the same rooms. Our accessibility page explains how to book wheelchair assistance if you need help getting to one.

The terminal map shows how far D34, F7, G11 and the H–J connector are from your gate.
