Miami airport cell phone lot: where to wait for an arrival

Find MIA's free cell phone lot, follow the airport's directions, and plan your pickup without guessing the stay limit.

MIA’s Cell Phone Waiting Lot sits off LeJeune Road at NW 31st Street. Its 60 spaces are free for noncommercial drivers waiting to pick up arriving passengers. Neither MIA’s parking page nor Miami-Dade County’s notice gives a stay limit or opening hours, so check any posted rules when you arrive, or contact MIA before counting on a long or late-night wait.

Find the lot from LeJeune Road

The lot’s outside the terminal area, near the junction of LeJeune Road and NW 31st Street. MIA says you can reach it from LeJeune Road in either direction. Our parking guide carries MIA’s driving directions:

  • From the north: Take I-95 south to State Road 112 west. Exit at SR 953, LeJeune Road south. Turn right at the first traffic signal into the Cell Phone Lot.
  • From the south: Take State Road 826 north or Florida’s Turnpike north to State Road 836 east. Exit at SR 953, LeJeune Road north. Turn left at 31st Street into the lot.

If your map app’s route ends at a terminal garage, it isn’t heading for the lot. Compare its turns with MIA’s directions above.

Wait for the call, then go to arrivals

Start with the arrival status in the airline’s app and agree on a pickup point with the person flying in. A message that the plane’s landed comes too early. Bags and, for many international arrivals, passport control and customs still stand between the plane and the curb.

MIA says domestic arrivals, plus arrivals from Canada or the Bahamas, go down from level 2 to baggage claim on level 1. Other international arrivals pass through passport control, collect bags, and clear customs. Passengers exiting Customs D reach level 1. Those exiting Customs J come out on level 3, and they’ll need to go down to level 1 for ground transportation.

Ask your passenger to message once they have their bags and can name their terminal and exit. When they reach the level 1 ground transportation area and send their location, leave the lot to collect them.

How long can you stay?

ParkON’s guide gives a two-hour maximum and 24-hour access, but they’re ParkON’s own figures, not MIA policy. If the flight is badly delayed, waiting at home and driving over once the plane has landed avoids the question.

If you need to meet them inside

You’ll need a paid garage if you want to leave your car and walk into the terminal. MIA describes the cell phone lot as a waiting place for people picking up passengers. Our parking guide shows which garage serves which concourses, so you can pick the one nearest the exit your passenger will use.

MIA lists garage parking at $2 per 20-minute increment, with a $25 daily maximum applying after four hours. If your passenger needs help getting out, arrange it before they’ve landed. Our accessibility guide explains how to book wheelchair assistance.
