Cheap long-stay parking at MIA
Compare MIA's $12 economy lot with its garages, then plan for the shuttle wait, pickup doors and an unpublished ride time.

MIA’s Economy Park-and-Ride lot costs up to $12 per day, plus a $0.35 fee per transaction. The airport garages cost up to $25 per day. Economy is the cheaper airport-run choice for a long trip, provided you can spare time for a shuttle. The shuttle runs around the clock, and MIA publishes no ride time for it.
Pick your parking before you drive
| Choice | Published price | Getting to the terminal | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Economy Park-and-Ride | $2 for each 20 minutes or part of one, capped at $12 per day, plus $0.35 per transaction | Shuttle to and from the terminals | A longer stay when the lower daily cap matters more than a direct walk |
| Dolphin Garage or Flamingo Garage | $2 per 20 minutes, capped at $25 per day after four hours | Park at the terminal garages | A tight departure or a return when you don’t want to wait for a shuttle |
At the daily caps, economy saves $13 for each charged day before its transaction fee. Seven charged days would cost $84.35 in economy versus $175 in a garage. Your actual bill depends on when you enter and leave. MIA does not say on its parking page how it counts a partial day at the economy lot, so check the charge before paying.
Private lots and hotel parking deals run their own shuttles, hours and fees, outside MIA’s Park-and-Ride service. A hotel’s general airport shuttle does not, by itself, confirm that you can leave a car there for a trip. If you’re staying overnight, start with hotels near MIA and ask the hotel about its parking terms.
Drive to the economy lot, then take the shuttle
Set your destination to 1350 NW 45th Ave, Miami, FL 33126, the lot address on our economy lot page. MIA says vehicles over seven feet may use the economy lot. MIA lists 350 spaces but gives no live count for that lot. If you’re worried about space, call the airport’s parking number, 305-876-7536, before driving there.
Pay for economy parking through PayByPhone’s app, website or phone line. MIA lists major credit cards for that service and adds a $0.35 convenience fee per transaction. The garage reservation instructions are different: a prepaid garage booking uses a QR code, and MIA warns you not to pull a ticket at the gate or you may be charged again. Those garage instructions don’t apply at the economy lot, which you pay through PayByPhone.
MIA’s Park-and-Ride announcement placed shuttle stops on the departures level across from doors 3, 11 and 26. The shuttle leaves you at the terminal, not at your airline, so look up your check-in concourse in the airline directory before you park.
How much time does the shuttle add?
MIA’s opening announcement said the free shuttle came every 15 minutes. That is the wait between buses, and the ride comes on top of it. No official total covers parking your car, waiting, riding and walking to check-in.
Leave room for all four parts of that transfer, and remember the 15-minute figure comes from the lot’s opening announcement, not a current timetable. The airport’s parking line, given above, can tell you the shuttle’s timing before you commit. If the answer leaves too little time, use a terminal garage and pick from the parking options before you turn in.
Coming back to your car
The Park-and-Ride shuttle brings you back too. After collecting your bags, go up to the same departures-level stops you were dropped at and follow the Park-and-Ride signs. If signs or service differ from the announcement, ask airport staff or call the parking number rather than waiting at a guessed curb.
One traveler suggested in a video using MIA’s economy lot before a cruise and arranging a ride to PortMiami. MIA’s Park-and-Ride shuttle goes between its lot and the airport terminals, not to the cruise port. If the ship is your destination, price the onward taxi or ride app trip both ways before treating airport parking as the cheaper plan.
