Metrobus 36
Route 36 (and its 36A variant) starts at the Airport Station and reaches Lincoln Road and Washington Avenue with 38 scheduled weekday trips. It is slower than the 150 by about half an hour, with a median of 68 minutes on weekdays, 58 on Saturday and 54 on Sunday. What it offers is the earlier start and the later finish of the two buses, so it is the one to check for a 4 a.m. or a midnight arrival.
Taxi
Taxis load at the arrivals level curb outside baggage claim. The meter is the price: $2.95 for the first 1/6 mile, $0.85 for each 1/6 mile up to one mile, $0.55 for each 1/6 mile after that, $0.40 a minute while waiting, and a $2.00 airport charge. Tolls come on top, and an SUV or van adds 30 percent. Miami-Dade dropped flat fares, so every trip is metered. Most Miami Beach trips cross a causeway, and any toll is added to the meter.
Ride app
Pickups are on the first level (arrivals), at the middle median beyond the crosswalk, and on the second level (departures). The app shows the zone and door number. The airport publishes no ride-app fares, so the price to the beach is whatever the app quotes.
Good to know
- The airport says you need an EASY Card to ride public transit, and its vending machines are in the Miami Intermodal Center.
- Both buses stop in Miami Beach on Washington Avenue, close to Lincoln Road.
